“Old Spirits, New Debris”, new screen printed artist book in luscious brown and black by Portugese artist André Lemos. Postman by day, artist by night – Lemos is sifting through piles of meat, dust, disease, rubble, body parts, trash from the past and from the future. Everything is moving everything stays the same. The debris is uncovered in delicious black ink. He’s drawing without hesitation, drawing what he can see and what can break through the wall of litter. Here and there a pagan spirit appears, some prehistorical knowledge about how to celebrate this mess.

André Lemos (Lisboa, 1971) –Portuguese artist, illustrator, comics author and independent publisher. Has work featured in many solo and collective Portuguese and International publications. Editor of the independent publisher Opuntia Books. Works also as full-time postman.
