Angry, desperate and powerful – Haky Jasim’s artist book Colonial Rule contains graphics to overthrow the Empire. The book was published in time for Haky’s solo exhibition “Home, Sea, Hope” at Konsthallen Trollhättan in September 2024.
Haky Jasim is a Bagdad-born artist who studied printmaking in Belgrade in the 80’s but moved to Gothenburg when the war started. Since 1992 he’s been active here as an artist, printmaker, teacher and activist, especially dedicated to the movement for building a centre for culture in Bergsjön. Haky’s deep cut graphics are crude, poetic and loud, often dealing with desperate political themes such as war, terrorism, occupation and refugees on the road.
